sounds pricey for a peeler, no? These things, you'd just replace on semi-regular basis

These have been highly rated by ATK or wirecutter. I forgot which one it was. Yes it's a bit expensive but not by a lot. I have this and it's sharp and holds firm. I'm getting another one

Oxo products have a lifetime warranty and most of their stuff is noticeably better quality. Yea you could buy a one dollar peeler every year or two or buy one for more that performs excellently and have it for life.

I'm the designated peeler at my house. This is a quality device if your peeling carrots or just a handful of potatoes.
Every Thanksgiving morning, I'm tasked with peeling 15 pounds (3 bags) of the finest Idaho spuds. Using a manual peeler like this, for that amount of potatoes, absolutely sucks. I knew there had to be a better option.
A few years ago, after searching and watching many comparisons, for less than $20, I bought an electric peeler called "The Rotato".
The peeling game is forever changed. I used to dread Thanksgiving mornings, now I laugh as this cheap electric peeler does this task effortlessly in no time at all. Here's a video.

I just checked on Amazon, the price is now $26, but I would replace mine in a second if needed.

This thing is made in china junk. I've owned several of the oxo peelers. They lose their edge very quickly. get this swiss Army, made in Switzerland peeler for the same price and nevergo back! These are all i use now, and they are also a go-to stocking stuffer for friends/family who love to cook.

Interesting, but after watching several Rotato demos, the result is not a ready to use potato. I can peel ready to use potatoes in the same or less total time. I suppose if you have arthritis, it might be helpful.

Eating a lot of potatoes in our household - only proper Idaho potatoes, not just any Idaho potatoes since Idaho has become lax in their quality certification process - we might try the Rotato out anyway, since it is only $26 bucks.

Otherwise will stick with our many year old Oxo peeler. We have noticed Oxo is far from the brand it used to be. We have an original masher and a family member has a newer one. No comparison - the newer masher is all bent up due to Oxo using a clearly thinner gage steel. Our ancient masher is rock solid straight.

Like the other commenter - showing $11.99 for me, not "$9.60". <— Strike that. (Couldn't find a "Strikethru" option in the editor.)
