durability after washing seems to be pretty bad according to reviews on amazon.

I have bought amazon brand jeans before and they were really the worst jeans I have ever purchased. There was something about the fly where I had fish out my dong to go the bathroom. Never happened on any other jeans. Also, the weirdest thing is the fly was crooked off center to my belly button to the left. Like they were made wrong. And it was awkward. Never had a pair of pants in 40 plus years do that. I threw them away they were so bad.

I saw a video on youtube explaining how many amazon basics products love copying others but offering low quality....sometimes charging more than the product they're ripping off.... Essentials probably in the same boat

Likewise a chunk-ster. Biggest Waist is 42.

I was going to order several pairs of these the other day, to use as work pants, because this general style works for me. But I was a little skeptical and just grabbed one pair. That was the right call, they're weird. The fabric is a little concerning, on the soft side. The waist runs smaller than every other pair of pants I own in the same listed size, by at least an inch. The legs are very wide - they look like something I might have thought was cool in the late 90's, so they look downright baggy now. And I have no idea why they have loops on both legs, right over the side pockets - they're oddly-placed to be hammer loops, and having two is pretty rare, at best.

For $14 I'll try wearing the pair I bought, but I will not be buying more. Amazon Basics synthetic oil tests out just fine, but being just a bit off or substandard seems to be the norm for other Amazon-branded things, and these pants are no exception to that. I'll wait to buy more work pants until either Sam's Club or Costco has some decent looking ones for $18-$20, under whatever brand they choose to call them next.

I don't know, but if I was in a pinch and needed to make sails out of any of my pants to get off the mainland because of a zombie apocalypse, I'd start with these to save a little sewing work. They aren't exactly a boot cut but the legs are wider than anything else I own, and I'm too old to mess with "skinny" jeans.

My opinion - no point to buy non-stretch pants or shirts these days. Stretch items are widely available and cheap. It is not 2005.

You know, this isn't something most of us have learned to consider, but it's a good point. I've got some fairly new stretch jeans and Carhartt-style work pants that I bought in spite of the fact that they were stretchy, and they've been my go-to jeans and my most durable work pants. You're right, good, tough pants can be a little bit stretchy and even more comfortable to wear than what a lot of us are accustomed to. Stretch pants used to mean glorified sweatpants, at best, but most any style is improved if it can give a little, and manufacturers have figured out how to give them just enough stretch. I dislike these Amazon pants more the more I think about them.
