Updating to the new firmware fixes it on the QM7, along with the motion issues and factory calibration. You have to install it via a USB drive, though, as TCL won't update it to the new ones OTA, because it essentially turns it into the 2025 K model. The firmware update is still approved by TCL, though, so it doesn't effect the warranty. https://www.avsforum.com/threads/...75Download. Download the OTA update of your choosing (avoid the beta versions, as they're a bit unstable), then install it via USB. V201 is the version that fixed all the issues, while later updates are minor improvements.

this may be a stupid question, but if it's a firmware for qm8 will it work for qm7?

You were correct in your assumption.

The QM7 is a superior TV. The comparable Hisense is the U7 but rtings.com recommends the QM7 over it, especially for gaming. I own this TV and it has a fantastic picture and the sound is pretty impressive for being a panel with tiny speakers. Very much worth the extra couple hundred bucks over a Walmart/Target special. Oh and I would stay far away from Fire OS on a tv.
