Just thinking other things and not these hacks are getting people banned. Wouldn't be worth it to HD to not change these deals to circumvent "hacking them" and lose customers. They could easily close the loophole on these if it was such an issue and loss to them. Heck, if HP can pull the plug on every single $700 laptop accidentally sold for $120, HD could certainly close the loophole or just not allow returning a "free" product for a refund. It isn't rocket surgery.

I think the account banning is from getting the items from different pickup locations and then cancelling one, not from buying both items and then returning one. Or am I wrong?
