Probably fine for applying poly or stain, things that destroy a brush. If you're actually painting, buy Purdy and take care of it. Simply no comparison and they hold up for years.

It's a dice role. I've purchased these multiple times in the past and the Prograde brand just uses white label products. The past three sets has been manufactured by different companies. Either "Vermeer" china, "Jines" china, or "Prograde" Vietnam.

I better brushes in a roller spinner to clean your brushes will make your life easy. buying cheap brushes and having to pick the bristles out of your paintwork does not add to the enjoyment.

I wish I had seen similar comment a month ago. I accidently used my Purdy brush to apply poly coat on a wood door and messed up the brush. their bristles are now like a rock.

If you do any sort of painting you want to take pride in, just get a good set of brushes and take care of them. Spend the money rather than buying cheap brushes and dealing with shit results and lost hairs and such.
Your advice is common, but my experience has been different. I own Wooster brushes, Stanley, ultra-cheapos from the dollar store, Harbor Freight brushes, etc. I know one prominent do-it-yourselfer who swears by painting with chip brushes and throwing them away afterward, which I'd never do. That said, I have been SHOCKED at how good the results are that I've obtained with cheap brushes. HF actually has some that perform quite well for the price. I totally understand a pro needing high-grade brushes, but I have to come down on the side of RESULTS for the homeowner. I simply don't get enough advantages to justify the huge cost difference.
