My first thought is that it was a good deal, because when I bought my first (but not last) Lord of The Rings box set, it was around seven or eight dollars. Most books were around a dollar, but box sets were enticing to a young guy. I was confused by the statement by Tolkein on the back of the books, stating that I should only buy the books he authorized. But what does a kid think of such pronouncements? I read my books many times, at least twice and probably three times. Then I lent them to relatives and ... goodbye books.

The graphic novel is excellent. Really enjoyed it, and the artwork is wonderful. Looks great on an ipad.

Does this have the bonus content covering the two additional movies? The dragon is ok, likewise the Hobbit and magic ring, but I just can't get enough of the comedy of Alfred Lickspittle, deputy mayor of Lake town. I hope there are dozens more of his masterfully written scenes in the extended editions!
