The FREE AFTER REWARDS OFFER MUST BE ACTIVATED PRIOR TO ORDERING IN YOUR REWARDS PANEL!! You will not earn rewards without doing so.
Also: 100% back in points on all passport photos, up to $50. Even if you're not going to apply for a passport right now, but perhaps in a year or two - get your passport photos now! Also good for:
1. visas in certain countries that still require you to bring a 2x2" photo (usually: must be different from your original passport photo - bring two shirts if you need a passport photo and a visa photo)
2. your international driving permit photo.
macosxfan alerted us that Staples revised the expiration of the luggage deal to 10/8/25. (Guessing to sync with Amazon's promotion ending today, too.)
Update: the in-store $250 deal continues until 10/18! Make sure you activate the deal, since it appears to be new and separate from last week's two deals.

What will one do with so much rewards from buying overpriced luggage?
Buy next overpriced item?
Bartering is another option - I'm sure you can let your imagination run wild with the possibilities of trading this for something else - goods, services.
E.g., $60 item, apply a $10 coupon, then $50 is due. Apply $50 in points (10,000 points) and the entire thing is free.
Bonus: if they process the points redemption like they do in many states, you don't get charged sales tax on the amounts paid for by points.
E.g.2, $59.99 item, apply $10 coupon, then $49.99 is due, plus tax. If you apply 9800 points (you can only apply points on whole dollars), then $0.99 is due, plus sales tax on the $0.99.

Whether you buy one or more pieces at Staples, the price is high for all brands, including Bond Street, Swiss Mobility and Samsonite.
Buying from Amazon, eBay or Walmart makes more economical sense (cheaper) without having to deal with rewards.

Buying from Amazon, eBay or Walmart makes more economical sense (cheaper) without dealing with rewards that I may or may not use.
However, to your 'naysayer' comments, you can price match identical pieces found less on AMZ or WMT, AND STILL GET the rewards. The rewards do not expire and I"m sure in the next 3-6 months you can find useful stuff to redeem them on.
I'm actually kind of tired of people who show up in Staples free after rewards threads thinking they know best, do no due diligence on how to best max out a deal like this and don't ask for advice either. Just offer incorrect advice to others.
Naturally one can bank 'too many rewards'. However, unlike many rewards programs, Staples rewards do not expire so you can hedge your bets when to use them most efficiently.
As to what to spend them on? I've often spent them on coffee, paper goods, cleaning goods. Black Friday/CyBer Monday deals (coming up very soon), school supplies/office supplies, and have monetized rewards by purchasing crazy good deals and re-selling them, sometimes at a profit on local FB yard sale groups.
Not to mention, it's a good way to get a new Chromebook/laptop/tablet/PC, free or cheap if you expect to need one in the months ahead or for a kid with school needs.
Really have to play the game creatively and max out the upfront end of these deals via price match and then again on the back end. When they have the case paper on sale, sometimes at $35 you can easily buy that and flip them for $40-45 monetizing them and making some extra cash for your time/trouble.
