The pictures show four humming birds trying to use the feeder. Around here, if two humming birds met at a feeder, it would be a bloodbath.

I use mascara brushes to clean the feeder holes, and baby bottle brushes to clean the inside of the tank. The speed in which mold/fungus grows is determinate upon temperature. Colder nights and days slow the growth, but if you have a couple hot days in a row, expect to clean theses every couple days or you'll be giving your birds dangerous food.

Like others have said, some varieties of hummers are really territorial, and will guard the feeder and drive away others. I have one likes to sit on a nearby branch and bark. It's really funny.

My feeder itself rarely gets dirty enough to need to be scrubbed. It's the sugar water itself that probably needs to be replaced once a week or so, because in the summer it ferments pretty quickly, and the hummingbirds don't stick around to get drunk on it. They just avoid it.

You might do more harm than good with these. As these feeders can develop the fungus and spread it to the humming bird.

They need to be cleaned, we do every time or two when we replace the liquid.

Anyone know if these base (where the flowers are) is metal or plastic? Squirrels here eat them and they have destroyed our older feeders. We have since switched to metal and they have only "eaten" 2-3 metal flowers.

Was not in the listing but found in the reviews that the bases are metal.

Take that squirrels!

It's actually very easy to clean. The bottom where the little flowers are twists off and separates. However, it's the LAST thing the humming birds go to, at my house anyhow. It seems they like the cheap dollar tree feeders more😅
I have a similar stained glass feeder, and my hummingbirds treat it like an art piece, and fly over to the cheap feeders to get the goods. Discerning little warriors, they are.
