I have TONS of similar jump starters and have good experience with some and not so good experience with others.

From my experience, the ones that don't have a "boost" button won't jump start a dead battery or failing. If the battery is just a little low, they will give it the push needed to start the car.

If the battery is dead like you left your lights on all night or the battery is failing, these won't jump start the battery.

I have an old AUDEW that is like 10 years old and it had a boost button. it outperform all the newer ones that I have without the boost button. If you are looking for AUDEW and can't find them, they rebranded to Andeman.

I'm not here to advertise for AUDEW, I have tried others with a boost button as well and they always work.

The one on this deal, doesn't have a boost button so I would stay away.

the first one we bought years ago was Audew. We were so impressed we bought two more. Since I have bought several others. I have a GooLoo that has the boost button also.
Even newer electronic battery chargers wont charge a completely dead battery. You sometimes have to put some jumper cables on with the charger so the charger sees some current. After a short time it will start charging and you can remove the jumper cables.
This may have something to do with the safety of not being able to connect the device backwards. If it can't read any voltage at all there is no safety feature for cross connections.

I know how to properly use these. I don't mean a "completely" dead battery, but most of those won't see the battery if the voltage is too low and throw an error code.I have used one of those types without the boost/ force start, then switch to my Audew and it fired it right up.I didn't know you could hook up jumper cables in addition to the jump starter to "simulate" current, but people buying these are likely doing this in place of having a jumper cable.I always keep a jumper cable just in case, but others may not. And it kinda defeats the purpose of being self sufficient and not needing someone else for a jump.

the jumper cable reference was in relation to using an electronic battery charger which will not charge a dead battery the same that these will not jump a deac battery, because there has to be voltage present first.

Replace your car battery every 3-5 years and you'll likely never need this.

you could replace your battery every 3-5 months and still need one. Where did the battery zap you?
