On clearance in select stores for $270. Just dropped today, was $315 for the past 3 weeks. it will probably drop again in 3 weeks but I got one since the inventory was getting low. It was hard to find in the store because they were moving the mowers to the top of the shelves in the lawn and garden.

I would stay away from Ryobi 40 volt anything. Their batteries are the worst out there and die after only around 1-3 seasons. I repair batteries and I think I have around 60 just sitting on my shelf that have bricked themselves. Pretty much anything is better.

This. I went with their 40v platform because the handheld tool batteries have always been great for me. It's such a nightmare to deal with and the fact that they haven't found a way to stop the overheat fault after a decade of complaints is ridiculous. They cost way too much to be so damn sh!tty. You can reset them by opening them up and "jumping" it from two points on the circuit board but that's only a temporary fix, they will die prematurely no matter how much you baby them.

It definitely depends on the tool. I have 40v string trimmers, blowers, hedge clippers, and polesaws that were cheap and never have battery issues. But I got a blower/mulcher for cheap off of ebay and it came with one blown battery from the seller. I overheated another after a few minutes of use. I can see a mower having the same fate if it gets bogged down in tall grass. That said, I might roll the dice with this mower since I have a small yard.

No problems with ryobi 40v system so far unlike others in here are saying. This is a great deal for a mower esp since it comes with the battery.

I've had the same issues with the 40v that others have mentioned. The tools themselves have been great but the battery issues are aggravating. Especially at $150-$200/replacement.

I went to Home Depot looking to buy this deal and the app in store mode showed the 40V HP Brushless 21 in. Cordless Battery Walk Behind Multi-Blade Self-Propelled Mower w/ (2) 6.0Ah Batteries and Charger which is listed at $699 on clearance for $227.15. It was the last one so I grabbed it and hope the battery is better than what others have experienced but feel better that they come with a 3 year warranty.

I wonder if it is the user or just the mower overheats them. I've had 2x 4ah Ryobi 40V batteries for about 4 years without issue. I have a weedwacker, edger, blower, and chainsaws. They still last almost as long as new. I store my batteries inside. Never leave them at 100% for more than a day. Heat along with high charge level kills Lithium batteries. People like my parents who keep their batteries in hot 100F garage on the charger when they are not using them kill batteries. EGO chargers will bring charge level down if you don't use the battery after a few days. Ryobi keeps the charge at 100% which can kill batteries. It isn't that hard to take the battery off the charger but no one does.

I've never had a problem with a Ryobi 40v battery, and I leave my lawnmower outside all year. If it rains I might cover it up.

I have had a few 18v get down to 0 volts, and can't charge them, but Ryobi warranty was excellent. Believe I was able to keep the old batteries which I sold on eBay for people that know how to jump start them.
