Hilton has been destroying their points system; they have been rapidly devaluing their points, and they also moved to a dynamic award redemption system. So you'll get the best value on low-demand nights or less popular properties. When demand spikes, value can get torched.

For comparison, the Chase Sapphire Reserve card returns about 1 CPP (cent per point). Hilton points were valued at half that, .5 CPP, but because the number of points redeemed fluctuates based on demand, the value can drop to less than .2 CPP.

I like Hilton hotels and stay with them over 100 nights out of the year. But they've absolutely destroyed their points system and it's not worth pursuing IMO. The 1,500 points mentioned in this 'deal' is worth $7.50 at best, but likely half of that. You're much better off getting a travel credit card and earning points by booking through the card's portal rather than booking directly with Hilton.

Fully agree. I'm a lifetime Diamond with Hilton and they have devalued the points so much over the years that my point balance is essentially worthless. Switched your loyalty to Marriott. Hilton points area fraction of the value of Marriott and even Holiday Inn. Completely worthless program

agree. Hilton points baseline is half cent a point, since that is what you can cash purchase them from Hilton. However, with the recent devals, you need the 5th night free to reach that value for the locations I'm looking at. Looks like the days of getting 25%+ value on point bookings are gone. I just started to move away from Hilton this year. Will take me a couple years since I have 1m points to burn through with limited pto. Definitely not going to stay anywhere less than 5nights.

Lol at those saying Hilton has destroyed/devalued their program. Not disagreeing.
They just never were good compared to their competitors anyway. But yes, shittier now.

I remember a time when a stay at the top tier properties was less than 70k points per night. I also remember when their promos were double or even triple points.

Heck, I remember when Diamond actually meant something. Nowadays not only is it virtually impossible to get upgraded, but they've pulled out nearly all the executive lounge/floors and you get the same crap meal "credits" (in certain brands) as anyone else.

Hilton overseas does a much better job of recognizing Diamonds which would be great if I got over there more than once ever year or two.

... If a member starts a stay in the middle of the promotion period and check-out after December 31, 2025 a member will not receive the bonus."

RRV says 0.41cpp not 0.5, more reasonable.

I used to be one to only redeem for good values, but that has been a bad strategy because a devaluation just hits you and suddenly those prior bookings would have been a good value.

I think earn & burn is best strategy as long as it's not a completely ridiculous redemption.

I travel regularly for work and was a Diamond member for the last six years. Accumulated about 1.5 million points (and used them). Even though all my colleagues stay at Marriott, I tried to stick it out with Hilton for that lifetime diamond status but last week, I decided to shift my loyalty to Marriott because most of the better/fancier hotels are Marriott-branded in most cities, and Hilton not only devalued their points but also made it difficult to get points. I used to earn 35,000–40,000 points for every five-day stay. Now I barely earn 20,000. My work has an offer where I can jump to Marriott Platinum membership directly if I stay for 15 days after activating the offer, and I just activated that offer and booked a 14 day stay with them. Apart from the digital app and keyless check-in (which I don't care about), I don't think Hilton has much going for them. I rarely, if ever, get upgraded, and they never give me late checkout. On the other hand, for Marriott Platinum members, it is automatic late checkout until 4 PM. Also, it doesn't matter if you are a lifetime Diamond member at Hilton. The guys at check-in don't even know that you are one unless you show your card. Also, like the other guy mentioned, you are lucky if you get .3 cents per point.
