More than likely buyer remorse returns showing up now on a discount. Save a few bucks now or wait until Black Friday.

I've gotten defrauded by BestBuy on a NEW box of airpods. There was fake airpods in the sealed box. It took months to get a refund so I don't plan to ever purchase open box from BestBuy.

In the opposite direction I bought open box AirPods (locally) a couple years ago. I asked the guy who got them out of the case to open them up with me so we could inspect them. When I got them outside they were still tied to someone else's account.
They ended up offering a refund then and there but they were a crazy deal - stacking open box on a sale on AirPod max so I go $200 off. I asked if I could replace with some of the new ones they had and they said yes. They (luckily) didn't have the color of the open box ones new (pink) so asked me what I want and I got blue.
I think a lot of customer service comes down to who's helping you.

It's just wax. Just heat it up and it will liquify and come running out. Problem solved.

Did you have the AirPods Pro 2 already? My favorite were original and AirPods 2. Everything after is too large and gives me pain, including the current AirPods 4 I have. Was considering trying the Pro 2's.
