I bought these the last time they were this price, ended up returning them after a few months. Not because of sound, they sounded great, but as a computer speaker on mac there were just too many compromises and annoyances.

Not ideal for use as computer speakers, they turn off quickly when not in use, like use your computer for 5 minutes without sound output then try to play something and the damn speakers have turned off. id always have to switch to them as the sound output, over and over again, every time i wake up the computer from sleep. Did not play well with mac, buyer beware. Outside of computer use im sure they are just fine.

All that being said i downgraded back to my Edifiers that have none of these issues and im really just as happy sound wise, they sound different but just as good to me.

It's not expensive compared to HomePods. Those are about $300 each. This is $600 for two speakers, which is the same price per speaker.
I have a HomePod -- it sounds great. I also have some KEF speakers -- they sound great. I'd take this deal any day over a pair of HomePods though.
Although, I'd rather buy unpowered speakers and a small amp instead.

Just an honest review from a non audiophile person that wanted to dab into some higher end speakers and see what the hype is all about. I got these from the previous deal earlier this year and went from edifier mr4 to KEF's with a SVS 1000 pro for PC speakers. I actually prefer MR4's native EQ to the KEF's. From what I recall the MR4 sounded more full than these out of the box, but the Kef's had way better base at low frequencies and just a little bit better clarity. Do I think these are $900 better than the MR4's at MSRP? No, more like $250 better, but that is just me pulling a number out of my butt. I had some money to splurge, so I spent a total of ~$1100 on a pc speaker setup that is probably overkill, but will be used indefinitely until it breaks as this will be my endgame PC audio setup. Overall they sound okay, not much better in audio quality compared to budget options out there. It's definitely not worth the MSRP price or at $600 sale price. I guess high end audio is just diminishing returns for what you pay. This should be priced ~$350.

D1 is pretty dated. The DAC in these should be superior. Why not give them a try and save the D1 for another set up?

Connections are shitty. Even Bluetooth/ARC/Optical. Every connection has to be woken up using app. Even ARC. I have to grab my phone change the input and then I can play. Optical out from TV, cannot change volume. Unless you ONLY stream music, I think this is good investment. Else please dont.
Have you tried getting help from user manual or tech support? I don't have this exact model but there is an option to set mine to wake up on HDMI using the kef app.

I bought a pair from Costco and they were bricked out the box. Would "connect" through the app but would never "power on" when trying to connect via wifi or bluetooth. Unplugging for an hour, pressing the reset button, doing factory reset inside the Kef app didn't do anything. Just a bricked pair of KEF LSX II LTs. I think I'll get some passive speakers instead.

I got these last time they were on sale and returned them. They're way overhyped. They're a bit better than my Edifier speakers which were <$150 but not $450 better and they don't come anywhere close to $100-150 headphones.

I'm thinking about jumping on these for my computer desk... too much for a regular desk? I'd be about 4 ft away from them.

Also, I have two computers I'd line to connect to them. Possible? Or do these only service 1 input?

I had a house full of SONOS speakers. Got rid of all but the soundbars and subwoofers. I found the 5s to be initially exciting sounding but grated on my ears after a while, They are overly bassy, midrange emphasized and doesnt have the detail in the high end, They do not portray delicate music well. More like heavy metal sounding. That and the mess when they updated their software turned me from a lifetime user to just a TV soundbar user, These KEFs should be way superior to the 5s if you want a musical speaker. background or TV the sonos should be just fine. I replaced my pair of 5s in the office with a better sounding and cheaper set up with triangle borea 2, wiim pro and loxjie A30 dac/amp. It sounds better than it has any right to sound. The KEF on sale provides a one box solution.
