Plex is running an offer for Breitling (official stores only or online) $1500 off $7500, fyi.
Unfortunately this of course won't qualify.
Edit: added online option

At this price why not just get a Rolex?
Which Daytona or ever Sub are you getting for $6500?

What is the going rate? Is it better to buy a preowned Rolex? TIA

Shiiiiiiii... Going rate for a Daytona pre-owned (even new on grey market) is silly. But new they retail for $16k in oystersteel or $50k+ for precious metal. You're years out from an AD and they want you to spend a lot with them before getting you up the list for one. Submariner grey market is a little bit more than retail but you can get one now as opposed to waiting a year or two unless you get lucky somewhere.

You could go on the waitlist for an Oyster perpetual. Those start at $6500. I would go with that or the Air King for $7,750

Without fail there's always at least one. Why even post? Both a Ford and Ferrari will transport you to the same destination. No one tells you how to spend your money. So why yuck someone else's yum.

Hilarious to compare a mechanical watch to a Ferrari.

Exactly. Rolex has the name but today so does Breitling. This is out of my price range but it I was considering a new watch like this, I'd check how this and others retain their value. Most watches in this range lose value like a new car, immediately on leaving the dealer but some more than others. I have one Titanium (far lesser brand) and it feels so much lighter on my wrist. If you want a Breitling and can't afford this one or don't care about the weight, here's another Breitling option.

All luxury watches will hold some intrinsic value. Rolex is one that's attainable (moreso than Patek and AP) that holds their value well and generally appreciates in value. Omega, Tudor, and Tag are all nice watches are typically lower.

There are mechanical watches more expensive than Ferrari's.

A Timex isn't jewelry.

Breitling makes some very handsome timepieces but this one looks like it came from the '70's
