It's never a good idea unless you are like 1000 miles away from a business class flight and the transfer will put you over the edge.

10 hilton to 1 united. Converting my 200k hilton points into 25k united (including bonus) does not seem like a good deal to me. And that's even after considering that I get friends and family on hilton making my hilton points typically less valuable

No, but there is a minimum of points you must have . Like Hilton does minimum of 10k Hilton points in order to convert

Does not look like it costs money to transfer. Redemption rates vary wildly. Bonvoy converts at 3-1 which can be worth it, but Hilton converts at 10-1 which is just terrible. Unfortunate because I have a lot of Hilton points I would love to convert.

wow, that's absolutely terrible. You gave up one Hilton night basically, for 6K airline points which will get you absolutely nothing.. you must truly hate Hilton and never want to go there again lol

so if i convert 85k bonvoy (worth $600 ish on hotel stays) to 28k + 25% = 35k in united it would be worth about $400 in united money... so why would i do this? Even if i get the 10k kicker it seems stupid... someone help me understand why this is a good idea

It's actually worse than that. You can get Hampton Inn, Tru By Hilton, etc for 24-27k pts/night and often as low as 20k. Tru are all BRAND new properties. I see a TON in major metros
OP essentially gave up $300+ in exchange for 6k united points which are worth less than 1 CPP (or about $40)
Even american airline points (which in my use are "more valuable") I would only value 6k at $60-$100
