All the moving parts look like a nightmare for anyone living near trees. I see nothing but jams, leaks, and complex cleaning. A pergola shouldn't be that much work, but I'm half tempted to buy these as carports lol.

Anyone knows how easy is it to install? I assume best to find a local contractor right?

This is a great deal. This is much cheaper than it was priced in Costco (after sale). I bought 9'x14' for $1600. Here a 10'x13' is $1320. For me, it is not worth hauling mine (still in box) back to Costco for a $280 saving. But, anyone looking for this should buy one.

Edit: The Costco version is with the Aluminum louvers. The ones on sale here come with galvanized steel louvers. The Aluminum louver model is not on sale.

wow crazy deal. I bought the 10x20 aluminum from Costco for $2,700 and that was with a $700 off deal. I absolutely love it in California.

I have the 10x10 and I did it with one other person, it took us about 3 hours and we weren't racing by any means.

Solvable with a few blasts from a 56V leaf blower?

Look for someone in Thumbtack. My handyman did it with some help from me. I paid him like $400 bucks.
The hardest part are drilling the anchor bolts. I end up buying nicer anchor bolts that can withstand more wind just to be safe than sorry.

I have read that some folks just keep the louvers open so the snow load is not a problem in the winter. Does anyone have any experience with this pergola in Chicago-like winters? I find a picture or review of this with snow in the picture.

This is my 3rd year owning it. Surprisely leavs and debris don't get in there. I even have a pinetree nearby and is not an issue.

The debris does get stuckinside the drain hole in the columns and you will need to clean it out on occassion.

Anyone installed these on those fancy pedestals or columns or vertical basis that contractors install pergolas on for a fancier look? I'd like a higher ceiling and also a more substantial look. I was thinking of having those pedestals built and then mounting these on top of them. It should end up much cheaper.
