For anyone wondering how this deal works out if you have an existing GPU account - you end up paying about $24 a month for 10.5 months (if you have to buy the Sam's Club membership which is $25 minimum).
If you have a Sam's Club membership already, this goes down to around $22 a month. This whole price hike just blows.

the conversion is less if you have an existing subscription.

It looks like MS just reduced the conversion rates again. It used to be 3:2 (or 66.67%), then was 2:1 (or 50%) and is now just 40%. BOOOOOOOOO!

I thought you can only stack up to 36 months. How are you doing 42?
Of either Core or Ultimate, but you are converting as you put the redeem codes in not all at once !

No thanks, not giving greedy Microsoft any more money for their garbage subscription. Give people who don't play Fortnite or who don't care about Ubislop games the option to keep Ultimate at $20/month.

Does anyone know if this will 2:1 rather then 40% if you add GPU after you add the 12 months of core? If so that might be the way to go as well. This would have to be a new subscription.

My game pass expires in August of 2026, can I use this deal to stack more?
The conversion rate is lower if you have an existing game pass. Mine expires next April and thinking of getting this deal and hanging on to it.
Although really, my non-gamepass games have been severely neglected over the past 3 years of having gamepass (did the 1:1 conversion right before it left), I think this price hike is a sign I should let it expire and play my other games.

They wouldn't expire but the conversion rate is bound to change.
If you have 2 whole years left I would just wait for other deals, that's a long time.

I'm confused by that? You get the best conversion rate if you are not currently subscribed. So if you add the two years then convert it to ultimate, the 2 6 months and 2 3 months will come in at a reduced rate?

I'm currently paying month to month, 16.99 for the ultimate. So I should just let it expire and then buy the 42 months worth, right? the 40% conversion should be active at that point?

Same, my three year stack literally just expired and I realized how little I actual use it, the Xbox doesnt even get touched anymore by the kids, I mainly use it for PC to play the indie games on there...Honestly at this point I'll just budget the gamepass sub and just buy the games I want to play instead of having all the other stuff that I don't care about.

Seeing the yearly price of this really puts into perspective how actively you have to be using game pass. To spend that much you would have to value how many new games are you playing monthly and how many are you enjoying.

I understand when it was cheaper but 200+ a year sheesh.

~33% now. Best option for existing is still 3 months core at eneba at $15 for 32 days. I suspect that won't last much longer though.
Can't you just let yours run out and then top it off after?

Literally on the same boat, except March 2026. Almost been forcing myself to play GP games "while I still have it", but the list of interesting games really is shrinking for me personally. Halo infinite with my buddies which is free and wrapping up Plagues Tale Requiem. I will admit, I probably wouldn't have given Expedition 33 a chance if it wasn't on GP, but it turned out to be one of my favorite games of all time.

Man, I wish I had that kind of gaming time. We are moving from a city with a VERY generous game selection at our library to one with none (small town), so the last couple months I've been only playing library games, but I have so many freaking games I want to beat before next spring and man a ton of really amazing games came out this year.

There's no way I will get to them all and come next March it's gonna feel like sophie's choice on which will be the last game I get to and leave the rest.

Although hopefully there will be one month codes here and there for under $10. Even if it isn't ultimate but the middle tier I can find enough to keep me entertained.

Yeah, if you aren't using gamepass there is no reason to get rid of it. My kids are on our xbox playing gamepass games all the time. That thing is just gonna collect dust when it expires. There's some games they want but most of them are online, like Minecraft.
