These are considered one of the better men's underwear on the market.

(Duluth's underwear is also considered pretty good. As for socks, I prefer Darn Tough or Smartwool).

What I did was buy one of pretty much everything -- different styles, different fabrics, etc -- and after using them for a few weeks, I was able to easily articulate my preferences. After a lifetime of wearing budget options from Walmart and Kmart, these were pure luxury. Plus, Hanes/Fruit of the Loom have been REALLY dropping their quality over the past 20 years.

The real nice part of these is that most of the good underwear have a 1-5% Spandex (or similar fabric) content -- allowing a lot more freedom of movement.

What I ended up with were the Exofficio Give-N-Go boxer, these fellas right here. Mind you, this is entirely one's personal preference. However, this two pack is a smashingly good price and worth trying out.

Care instructions: Wash COLD WATER. Cycle should be AS GENTLE AS POSSIBLE. To dry them, HANG DRY ONLY -- they'll be dry by the next morning. Do not use a clothes dryer or aggressive wash cycles on them.

(edit: Here's a major positive I forgot to originally mention -- they dry very quick. I originally heard of them in "ultralight/minimalist" travel forums where folks praised how quick they dry after a quick handwash in a bathroom sink.)

Negatives: Older ones (around 8 years old) are starting to pill a little bit in high wear areas (such as between the legs)...but that's totally acceptable given the age. Not one has gotten a hole or a runner yet, though I'm not abusive to them.

Exofficio enshittified years ago. The problem is the elastic bands, which will deteriorate after a year or two. Google it for more info.

Too bad it's not the boxer brief, working on replacing my underwear with those. These would be great if you prefer boxers though

I disagree, strongly.

I have boxers from them since 2017 -- looking at my order history, I purchased them in '17, '18, '19, and last ones were from late '23. They're all holding up just fine. In fact, it's the other brands elastic that are giving way (Hanes, Fruit of the Loom, etc).

I don't have a bad thing to say about them, other than the ridiculous cost.

The only gentle negative is that the oldest ones are starting to pill a little bit in high wear areas, which is totally acceptable. I'd argue I've had these for longer than most other underwear before they started to show signs of wear.

I will admit there's a difference in fabric texture from the Give-n-Go v1 compared to the v2 -- the v2 is a bit slicker and smoother of a fabric. I personally have no strong preference for or against either fabric. But I've seen no less durability since they're they're all worn in rotation. The elastic is holding up perfectly fine.

I've had "athletic" boxer-briefs from Underarmour show more wear and tear (seams on them ripping).

edit: ....seriously, no idea why I'm getting downvoted. maybe y'all are dragging your nether bits across coarse gravel if your undies are falling apart that quickly. Good advice is to learn how to take care of your clothes such as proper washing and drying), and they might last a little bit longer. These downvoters are probably folks who throw them (and other synthetic fabrics) into HOT wash HIGH agitation and HOT dryer cycles...and wonder why things are falling apart after a dozen washes. GOLLY GEE WILLIKERS 🤣

I almost exclusively use these. The material is moisture wicking, breaths well, and is durable enough for 99.99% of applications. I bought two pairs in 2014, beat the crap out of them (wore those two exclusively for ~6 months climbing and mountaineering), and replaced them in 2019 because the waistbands finally gave out. I can comfortably wear a single pair for a few days if needed and they don't get itchy unless you're sweating a lot (and even then it's generally at the very end of the day).

I'd recommend these to someone who's trying to buy fewer, higher quality products (like Darn Tough socks) or if you regularly spend time in adverse environments and basic cotton underwear won't perform well enough.

Great phrase 'beat the crap out of them' These are great for travel. Wash in sink, dry quickly after. They don't feel as cool to the touch as Tommy John but are quite durable.

These had an extra $3.99 off. So it was $15.95. Great deal.

These used to be great quality but the rumors about them switching source material and degrading in build has been true for me. Noticeably, the originals I bought used a different elastic band/stitching than ones more recently purchased. To this day, the originals feel very intact, while the new ones' bands are fraying and popping out. They're also less comfy. For $21 this 2-pack might be worth it but the $55 MSRP might only reflect a standard from 10+ years ago.

Same problem for me. Elastic didn't last.

You're probably being downvoted because of the combination of condescending attitude and being just plain wrong. I've purchased these since 2014 and the materials and quality vary wildly, even purchases from the same year. I've always washed them in cold water and hang dry, never put them in the dryer and nearly all have the same jacked up waistband despite being under 10% difference between min and max weight since I began purchasing them. Certain colors definitely pill more than others (v1 black or green is probably the worst and silver the best ime) and certain colors retain their stretch better than others, but the waistband consistently sucks. Duluth are significantly better quality (currently) and hopefully keep their quality although in this day and age ... who knows. Agree with your point on the under armor, had one rip a seam and another had half the waistband come off within a month of purchase. Won't buy those again either.

I used to wear these exclusively. They changed the thickness of the fabric they use. I did not like it and now I wear Duluth Trading Company original Buck Naked boxer briefs.
