I haven't used the curbside pickup in over a year, but before that I used it for several years. It was easily the best out of all the stores that offer curbside pickup. Never waited more than 5 minutes for +40 different orders from 2 different Sam's stores, but I am sure this varies from store to store.

My membership expired last December, but when I try to renew through the link provided here, it only offers me the full-price option. How exactly does someone who previously had a membership that expired more than six months ago get this deal? Has anyone else succeeded at this?
While we detest some of Costco's practices - even larger packaging vs the others, sometimes snotty, entitled employees, their latest 100% tracking via scan your membership every entry, anti-vendor practices of nickel and diming them (example: temporary loss of Heinz ketchup) and establishing a product only to copy and private label it Kirkland… Costco is the only membership we've kept full time since joining - and as an Executive membership. But look at your phone's background app activity - we found the Costco app is constantly tracking you, even when you're not using it, one of the most background-active apps on our phones. Funny since the Costco app itself sucks - other than being usable to scan into the store without pulling out your wallet, it is pretty useless. Costco general merchandise tends to be solid quality. An aside Costco.com runs almost like an entirely different company - we only use it as a last resort. The prices are higher and the service is mediocre. A frustrating thing - they take products down immediately when they stop selling them so you cannot access info, review, etc…
Sams is a sad shadow of what it once was - we first joined when they absorbed Pace. More recently we gradually found we bought less and less there due to them dropping what we had been buying or the variety of what we wanted. It didn't help that their store nearest us has to be one of the worst managed in the chain. A shame since Sams "Scan & Go" in their app is amazing - it even gets you out of the store without the gate guards having to scan three of your items. Over the past several months, we've noticed Sams' gas price is often lower, sometimes 10+ cents lower than Costco or BJs (all three located a mile or less apart). Sams general merchandise is so-so quality. Recently visited Sams a month after our membership expired - no regrets whatsoever, nothing we wanted to buy.
BJs is interesting - the only way to shop there is to live in their app, constantly clipping digital coupons. We call it "coupon hell". It appears BJ's ignores the other two's prices. BJ's prices are sometimes $1-2 higher vs the others. Clearly Sams watches Costco. BJ's corporate customer service is non-existent. And corporate does not appear to care what their store directors think. BJ's does sometimes stock products the other two do not sell. BJ's general merchandise tends to be "buyer beware". BJ's gas discount is a flat 10 cents, whereas the other two are now 5%, so as long as the gas price is above $2/gal, and the pump price is the same, we never buy gas at BJs.
While there are some items we buy at BJ's that are not offered by the other two, very recently Costco opened a Costco Business Center near us. Several of the things we bought at BJs are sold at CBC. Another vote for Costco.
So we always renew the Costco membership, but we wait until BJs comes begging to rejoin at a discount. We might not even bother this time. Sams doesn't appear to care about keeping a member - they regularly fish/"conquest" with these deep discount new member offers.
Just my two cents…
