I would use these in stereo with a Sub Mini…
I would just use the least expensive Sonos like old Play: 1's for surround speakers… but that's me
what I need is Sub gen 1 or 2 for my pair of old gen 1 Play: 5's… connected a good Bluetooth receiver and they work phenomenally well. Only need the S1 app to allow the "Line in" for the Bluetooth receiver.

But I'm also happy having both S1 and S2 compatible devices. I have a mix throughout my house

What would I use this for? Is it also a Google assistant?

Not a huge audiophile, but have heard good things about Sonos. Currently my go to portable speaker is my Harman kardan Go + Play 3. Obviously this Sonos era 300 isn't portable and I don't have any other sonos to pair it up with, so i would use it as a main home speak.er.
Considering what I have already, do you think its worth it for me?

I have also had the Harmon carb and go plus play, which is an awesome speaker. As far as Sonos goes, you would be getting them to be more of a home stereo set up, and these era 300s sound really really good especially if you have two of them. Also if you have Apple Music or Amazon prime music, you can check out some of the Dolby Atmos tracks, which sound awesome on these era 300 speakers. I converted my era 300s to be surrounds when I got my arc ultra, but I kind of miss them as a stereo pair, but I don't think I can pull the trigger on these or else I might get yelled at by my family again. I am a big fan of Sonos though.

These are awesome as surround.
For stereo, I'd spend a little more and get two Move 2. IMO.

Two of these in stereo are waaaaayyyyyy better than two Move 2's in stereo. Sound wise anyways…

As Surround speakers, unless you have lots of disposable cash, 2 Play: One's will be more than adequate.

Like why replace 2 Play: One's for a surround setup? What are you got to do with the Play: One's? Use them as a stereo pair? For the minimal "gain" in sound using 2 Era 300's as surround, you would be better served leaving your Play: One's as surrounds and having the 300's as your stereo pair in another room.

My opinion of course.

A single Era 300 or two Era 100s for music in the living/kitchen/dining area? Fairly large open area.
