Shocked it has composite. Great deal for a little TV with composite on it.

I ordered this TV from BestBuy via DoorDash over the weekend after scoring $100 DD credit and an 80% (max $30) coupon from the Football Saturdays promotion. $73.83 was the total. The FireTV interface is gonna take some getting used to but so far so good.

Fire TVs are complete garbage IMO. $100 for a 40 inch is also nothing special and the fact that its not OLED/QLED or 4k makes it even more basic.
They give you a thumbs down. But the fire platform consistently works the worst of the big 3 (or 4 if you include LG's Web OS).

It loses compatibility with big apps way faster than it should (Fandango at Home on a 4k 2022 Fire stick comes to mind) and is just generally bloated.

I'm never buying a tv that runs FireTV as its OS. LG/ Roku/ Google all day over fire.

Edit: for context, I have tried multiple products from the main players. My opinion comes from years of use.

Last one was in 2022 or 2023 though wasn't it?

I didn't even insinuate you should be going that route. I'm more on the side that even at $100 you should be making a wiser investment..

Roku OS or Google OS. > FireTV.

Eventually it all becomes e-waste. I'm gonna lean in the direction of the stuff that takes longer to become that.

And for me that comes from user interface and compatibility long-term. So far nobody that has given a negative reaction actually speaks on that part.

Edit: i see the person I quoted spoke on that. I'm more reasonable than to think anyone with a $100-150 budget is looking at OLEDs. But I wholeheartedly stand by what I said about fire as an OS.

I have two fire sticks in the house. One from 2022 that stopped supporting fandango at home completely and the 2025 version of the 4k max firestick that supports it but I find myself switching to my old Xbox because the fandango at home app acts wonky & temperamental. My chromecast and Roku from 2022-2023 are still holding up.

I can't co-sign a platform that drops support of a major app in less than 5 years. And I don't think anyone else should.

Using this TV for a spot that won't take a TV thats larger than 42". Good value for the money. Bought a pedestal TV stand from amazon as the cheap 2 leg mounts wouldn't work on the existing furniture. Fire TV OS is decent. Can sideload smarttube onto the TV. I think there was only 1gb of storage on this TV which is expected for the cost. Reception was decent for OTA. No ethernet port. The remote is bluetooth only. Created a lot of RF interference with the NVIDIA shield TV such that the NVIDIA shield remotes will disconnect periodically. Can work around it by control the NVIDIA shield using the included remote through HDMI. No regrets so far. Obviously not the best picture quality, brightness, or sound - but you need to go 5x or 10x the price in this form factor to get a meaningful upgrade.
Best buy plus members may also have a $5 certificate to burn on this TV.
