Love these headphones for that price, assuming no QC issues with your set. If you get them, highly recommend something like Capra Audio's headband, as the stock one caused some hot spots after a while. I also replaced the ear pads, but the stock ones are okay/replacement isn't that necessary
I have a pair of xs. it sounds awesome (better than my other headphones in clarity). it is very light (feel fake). sound leak (louder than all my other open headphones).
recommend to use it in a quiet room listening to music by yourself. do not let people borrow or touch.
I've owned 3 pairs of Hifiman so far and these are my latest pair. I bought the Hifiman certified referb ones though, and I've heard the refurb pairs have better QC. They've been great. Coming from other Hifiman headphones it felt weird without a strap, so I bought one of these and they've done well.
Good deal overall. I bought these when they were $400 (MSRP went down to around $230-250 within the last year or so). I've tried Sennheiser, Sony, Bose, Audio Technica, and many others. These blow most headphones (at this price range) out of the water. However, audio is 1000% subjective, so take it with a grain of salt. Comfort is less subjective though, and these are by far the most comfortable headphones I've ever owned. I can't stand when the earpads touch your ears, and these have massive pads that help avoid this completely. TLDR: Good price, and amazing headphones.
Probably top five best headphones ever sound quality wise (#1 for me), only issue- absolutely not for the average to small sized head!
(also ZERO sense of sound in front of you, but way out to the sides great for music, not for ANY sense 3D depth, gaming etc...)
I'm 5 foot 7.5 inches tall 150lbs
If I was not dead level and sitting down staying still these things fell RIGHT off my head! (And that's with bending them as much as I could stand to to make the clamp tighter)
highly recommend everyone try the fidelio X2HR's , #1 headphones ever for balance 3D fish bowl of sound including the best frontal audio ever!
- coming from someone who has tried the best from hifiman as well as the Sennheiser HD 800 S (which I thought were trash, money not a concern)

Not if you're quiet listener, but definitely recommend a small mini pocket amp like an IFI or a FiiO to really get the full sound of these, in short an audiophile will definitely tell you yes
How do these compare with earlier deal on Sundara?
Similar fidelity, but this is a much bigger, wider, deeper sound, significant quality bass tonality. Incredible sound separation possibly the best ever in a headphone.
Sundaras are much more comfortable you could wear them going to the store here and there. Some people like the midtones more with the sundara
If you have an average to small size head do not buy Edition XS's
