I have a bunch of these. The oldest one I had for 10 years before the motor died after a kid dropped something inside. They are great. To be fair, I never connect them to WiFi. We just use them as noise machines for the kids rooms, bonus HEPA cleaning.

This had an incredibly annoying Alexa skill. It would make me re-authenticate my account every few days, usually when I was ready to get to sleep. And you couldn't address the device directly, you had to ask Winix to tell the device to do something. I wasn't too sad when the motor started whining and I had to toss it.
I've heard of other people having WiFi connection trouble but mine has been running fine for 3 years without wifi issue. The fan did start making whining noise after close to a year but it was replaced under warranty. no issues since

It's always best to separate 2.4ghz and 5ghz WiFi connections to help with device compatibility issues.

These are good but the fall under the printer business model where they get you when it's time to refill the filters

People will still be using these when the next pandemic rolls around, because they made so many of them and parts are so readily available.

Maybe but I've been using the same SSID and password for both WiFi frequencies

I never had a network connectivity issue, that always worked fine. The problem was with the Alexa skill. There are lots of reviews on it.

I see. I linked Alexa skills at one point but I never used it because I can't remember all those phrases 😂. I just checked Alexa and it looks like it's still connected

Winix filters are easily found on cramazon for a lot less than name brand. That being said this may be the model you can only get filters for at Costco? My old winix 5300 is still running strong and making cool noises.

I would recommend just getting the newer and better version, with 2 filters here: https://www.costco.com/p/-/winix-...4000295784

Or if you have the C545 already, the filters are also on sale: https://www.costco.com/p/-/winix-...4000225508

Do they make these any better when they refurb them? Or use the same bad bearings that will also fail in a year?

The next pandemic??? Can we afford another one???

*There's a crab festival in my town, pre-pandemic they would sell $55 tickets for two crab meals.
Now it's $65 for one meal !!! Perfect example of Super Inflation !!
