I don't understand why are they making these landfill ready devices. So much effort goes in devemoping it, manufacturing, distributing etc, just to hit the landfill an year after purchase because it will be dead slow with this amount of RAM.

The EU should step in and reauire all laptopa have RAM slots.

I have a unique wish list so let me know if you guys think a laptop like this fits. (Spilled water on my last cheap laptop and it fried it) I use it almost 100% for web browsing, low energy spreadsheets etc, no interest in gaming on it at all. (Have a work laptop, owned by my work, that I use for work stuff that is significantly higher priced) Really want a decent sized screen, backlit keyboard, number pad, and touchscreen is nice. This seems like a great deal for that. Other ones I am missing? RAM should be good for what I do.

Don't get me wrong, I would love for laptops to be thicker and to come with 2 SODIMM slots to upgrade RAM, but let's be real, even if EVERY laptop in the world had upgrade-able RAM that would do absolutely nothing in terms of e-waste. 99% of people will never make hardware modifications / upgrades to their laptop that requires them opening the laptop. Period.
Plus, that's not how RAM works. It's not a CPU or GPU. If 8GB of RAM is enough for your needs today, it'll be enough for your needs in a year unless you start using memory intensive applications (like video editors etc).

This is a decent deal but if one of your requirements is a backlit keyboard I don't think this laptop has that as far as I can tell.

Unfortunately consumers are not demanding it. We got Apple over here integrating RAM directly into the SoC. Literally disposable computers.
