The icemaker problem with this unit fixes itself when the freezer's defrost cycle runs. As best as I can figure out, the supply line for the icemaker can freeze up. Initially I went to the trouble of turning off the fridge and running a hair dryer at the back corner of the freezer. That fixed the problem. When I got lazy, I stopped doing that and noticed that the lack of ice making may go on for about a week, but always eventually fixes itself.

I bought three of these same fridges 11 years ago (one in my home, two went in new construction rentals). Two of the three have had the freezer issue, but otherwise they've all been fine. Back then they were $1000 each on Black Friday. IMO they're a good unit and the $1.3k price is good too.

This was one of several refrigerators we looked at for a recent remodel. Was initially going for it but saw quite a few complaints about the icemaker. Ironically, the freezer compartment on the floor sample at Lowes couldn't be opened due to icemaker "stuff" blocking it. Went with a different frige.

Many, many, many reports on widespread LG compressor failures and a class action lawsuit suggest otherwise.

Should I be able to see the interior water dispenser and, if so, in which picture is it depicted?

It's in the description section. It has a picture of it.

I'm currently looking at this Whirlpool refrigerator as a replacement for my 4-door LG compressor refrigerator that has crapped out for the THIRD time now. I've had the compressor, evaporator fan, etc replaced multiple times and it's been an absolute nightmare. And the LG techs (and customer service) legitimately won't work on the refrigerator half the time because I can't provide proof of purchase--it came with my house.
I will avoid LG refrigerators as best I can going forward unless I get a 5-year warranty at the time of purchase. I've had nothing but headaches with them.

This was with their old linear compressor. They now use rotary compressor (Smart Inverter).

I purchased this fridge for $1499 to be delivered 10/9. I just requested a price match. Is it likely that they will honor the $200 price difference? I am debating canceling and reordering. Obviously it would be ideal to just price adjust.

GE 24.7 cu. Similar design - french door without water/ice outside door. Sum of reviews (multiple sites including Consumer Reports, were comparably more positive. Bought with GE range and Whirlpool dishwasher from Costco.

Most Whirlpool models are made in the USA and thus have a higher quality standard than LGs, which are mostly made in Mexico, Vietnam, and Korea.

My +$2000 Costco-bought Whirlpool fridge compressor died slightly under the 3 year mark a few months ago. Very stressful! Had to toss out so much food. It was one of the more popular models that Costco recently discontinued. Ironically, the technician told me that the newer, updated model will be worse due to the flimsier design.Tldr: all modern appliances are crap
