Any thoughts on this? Bought a new house and my lawn sucks. No idea what the landscaper is putting on there. I have over seed. Do you over seed before or after this product goes in?

My landscaper said there is no such thing or need for fall preemergent but I guess this product is the opposite of what he said.

when to use this in NJ? November?

I'm in Long Island, I had no idea. You saved me from killing a bunch of seeds! A: Thanks for your question, Robyn. After an application of Scotts Turf Builder Fall Weed & Feed 3, you must wait 4 weeks before applying Search term:grass Search term:seed, even if you put additional topsoil down. This is to ensure the weed control active ingredients do not interfere with the establishment of the new Search term:seed.By Scotts C. in the United States on October 7, 2021

do not apply this if you are going to be renovating your lawn because this prevents seeds from germinating I don't know how long it lasts the stop germinating part. chat gpt says like 6 weeks I believe

we just had our lawn aerated and overseeded. He said what ever we choose for fertilizer DO NOT place weed and feed. Mentioned visiting clients who shared spreading it before the seed/aeration job and he refused to do it.

there are specific reasons to use preemergent in fall because spring and fall environments are similar. so it'll prevent weeds growning in fall aswell as grass.

This stuff is not a preemergent, it's a post emergent weed killer from what I read on the bag. And if you live in the south you definitely need preemergent for your lawn fall and spring unless it's perfectly weed free.

You're paying almost $6/lb for nitrogen in this (not a good price for N). You're also getting some K and the weed control, but even considering that, it's not much of a bargain considering that you could purchase the N & K and weed control separately for less. There is, however, the convenience factor of applying it all at once and having it shipped to your door.

The included weed control is weed killer (kills existing, growing weeds - does NOT prevent new ones from germinating) and is primarily 2-4D but in granular form. It must be 60F+ to apply.

This is not a winter "preemergent?"

What do you recommend for a winter preemergent for cool season grasses?

2-4D and mecoprop-p are post-emergent control. They kill what is already growing. The only pre-emergent controls I know of are best applied in the Spring, but perhaps there are some Fall or Winter applied ones I'm not aware of. Either way, this doesn't contain them.
