the pro definitely if you have to do graphics work or anything more advanced than base Google Gsuite or Microsoft Office

I have a 2023 M2 13" Air for personal, a 2024 M4 Pro 14" for work that they give me - they're both pretty lightweight - the 13" Air is really really lightweight almost like an ipad.

Probably not doing too much heavy lifting outside of larger spreadsheets and maybe SQL. Also not too concerned with portability because I won't be traveling too much so the smaller form factor of the Air isn't huge, but it's a nice bonus when not at my desk

I think the MacBook Air would be top notch for Home office use. I have one and it handles pretty much everything I've thrown at it, but I have a Mac mini Pro for high-level graphics work, but I think the many air would be fine for basic things.

They would honestly both be plenty good. Id just get the 2025 cuz it's newer plus save some money. Go for the pro if you do any kind of rendering tasks like video/audio/photo etc. i have an m2 mac mini and its extremely good for office tasks to this day. Moreso decide if you want a 13/14/15" screen unless you'll be using only external monitors, for office tasks you probably won't notice a difference between the two otherwise. I had an 8th gen i5 intel desktop, like 10 years old, only up until a year ago and after upgrading to 14th gen i7 i don't really notice a difference in day to day use unless i render something. So imagine an M2, let alone an M4.
