1/2 of these open box units are prob my returns. I went through 4 of them with random unexplained lockups (no BSOD or event log) before I gave up on Asus with AMD. Similar behavior was observed on a Razer 16 w the AMD 370. You have to force it to power off, and getting it to power on after such a crash is also challenging. The Wi-fi is complete garbage, plan on replacing that with the 1 other chipset compatible with AMD. Still, not a bad value if you can deal with some con's and really really "need" a 14" 5070ti.

Pro's:
Beautiful 120hz OLED
Very nice build materials/quality
Up to 140w TGP with a vga bios flash
Fantastic speakers, seriously, wow.
Small/light. Can't really get much more in such a small laptop

Con's:
Mediocre CPU
Mediocre Wi-Fi 7, only one alternative and it takes some searching to get what's needed
Atrocious single-zone keyboard backlighting, particularly bad on the white model
Just let the slash lighting die already, it's pointless.
No pcie 5, no thunderbolt

This has been a problem since a few years now. The G14 I bought a couple years ago had this issue. It's supposed to be mitigated a little bit if you uinstall Armory Crate and install G-Helper, but it's still flakey. I believe ASUS recently fixed the issue though and it's supposed to be released shortly for all models.

I tried and returned both of these g14 AMD processor. Can't stand with overheating and terrible battery life (2hrs or less).

Portable laptop but it's also powerful performance and light weight for students to carry on their backpacks. Good deal. Bought one for my son.

Less than 2 hour battery life I am assuming is from mostly gaming. There are no gaming laptops where you can get decent battery life (>3 hours) while gaming. g14 does has one of the best battery life when it comes to other tasks such as watching youtube videos and browsing. The tests I've seen stated ~10 hours for light usage which in fact is excellent. Only the Macbook Pro and a few other laptops can compete with g14's battery life.

If you want gaming laptop, you need to sacrifice portability and temperature control. There is no gaming laptop thats portable and has good temperature control.

I used to cook toast on mine. Warm coffee. Needs way too many improvements. Ran hotter than my mother-in-law's mouth.

Curious, but what did you opt for instead? And price point if you don't mind sharing?

This seems to be nothing new with ASUS. The 2023 (previous design) G14 had an issue where the GPU was soldered incorrectly to the motherboard and it would just die out. I bought an open box model with this issue, exchanged it, and had the same exact issue.

As for the WiFi chip, Intel does not let AMD laptops use the better Intel WiFi cards so you're limited to the crappy Mediatek ones.
