I normally like lego trains, but this one is small and can't be powered with any first-party motor kit.

What other Lego trains do you like better? I've been thinking about getting one this year.

I saw an ad for the "holiday express train," which looks cool. Do you have to buy a lot more track for kids to be able to go round in a circle with it?

I don't have this set, but I did have that question when I saw the set on sale at Target, and a quick google gave me this video, which does indeed look like a motorize of this set with the current motor and battery box from Lego:

The freight train has been great, got it two years ago for Christmas for son who was 5 at the time. it looks like it is retired now and the price really went to due to that. They never come with enough tracks for anything good besides a tiny loop. for extra tracks AliExpress highly recommended for third party tracks. they all snap together fine. I ended up purchasing a whole bunch of third party tracks. it has definitely opened up the possibilities for more creativity with track layout. plan on having it set up under the tree this year with a town. https://a.co/d/4jYtjjg
