There's a greater chance of receiving fakes/counterfeits on Amazon, but more importantly, you're keeping B&M alive as these are B&M sales that are simply being matched by Amazon to steal sales from competitors. If Best Buy, Staples, Macy's, Target, and Walmart were to go under, Amazon would not have any sale prices to match, and would just never have sales, keeping prices higher in a non-competitive market. If given the option of a B&M versus Amazon given all costs are the same, I usually go with the B&M retailer. You'll see a lot of this copycat behavior of Amazon matching competitor sales this week and continuing up through Thanksgiving/Christmas time.

they don't work the same, they don't have Precision Finding witch is only on AirTags because they utilize the U1 Chip.

Because they mix their products with 3rd party sellers as well as selling used Apple products an new. You may end up with counterfeit product which happens quite often.

Now that other companies are making similar items that work with Find My, these just don't seem like a good deal anymore. I've bought a couple different generic brands for less than half the price of these and I've been perfectly happy with them. They sync just the same, get tracked just the same, and cost a lot less.

And yes, I've owned several of the real thing for a couple years as well, so I'm comparing apples and Apples.
It would be great if you could name any of these alternatives.

Lowest price I've ever seen anywhere on a 4-pack. Keep in mind, generation 2 is coming but this is a "SlickDeal" for sure.

Agreed, zero issue with cheap third party alternatives
Not at all. I used Atuvos tag and it keeps 2 beeps for no reason (Battery is in good situation).
But, I've never try Airtag yet.

Woohoo. The Bestbuy $10 off coupon makes this $55.

Edit:

Thanks. I had no idea these existed. $18 and change for 4 tags is not bad.

I have eight of these. Three of them don't make sound anymore after 1 year of use.

Got a pack. Thanks for posting, OP!

Had a $10 GC from a ring sizing offer a while ago and another $5 bonus GC they just sent me yesterday. Ended up paying $50. I'm sure many others got the same GCs.

Precision finding is a nice value add, I lose my wallet in the house pretty often and my cheaper tag isn't loud enough in my wallet to hear every time if it ends up under clothes or something.

you can't use Precision Finding with 3rd party trackers
I'm considering getting some third party ones specifically because they DON'T have precision finding. Applications like hiding them in a vehicle, etc. might be more effectively not found and tossed away if they don't know exactly where in the car they are.

You're saying 3rd party are better for stalking?

I would recommend price matching this at another store. Don't buy apple products from Amazon.

Nonsense. Just be CERTAIN you're on Apple's page on Amazon.

FWIW - I've used Airtags for a several years and they have helped me find keys, wallet, etc MANY times – even if I'd left the item across town, at a store (or in a shopping cart - happened once), or in a friend's car. Check the battery every 8 months to a year. First time you find your wallet you'll be grateful
