There's a greater chance of receiving fakes/counterfeits on Amazon, but more importantly, you're keeping B&M alive as these are B&M sales that are simply being matched by Amazon to steal sales from competitors. If Best Buy, Staples, Macy's, Target, and Walmart were to go under, Amazon would not have any sale prices to match, and would just never have sales, keeping prices higher in a non-competitive market. If given the option of a B&M versus Amazon given all costs are the same, I usually go with the B&M retailer. You'll see a lot of this copycat behavior of Amazon matching competitor sales this week and continuing up through Thanksgiving/Christmas time.

they don't work the same, they don't have Precision Finding witch is only on AirTags because they utilize the U1 Chip.

Because they mix their products with 3rd party sellers as well as selling used Apple products an new. You may end up with counterfeit product which happens quite often.

Those products are still mixed with 3rd party seller products, which end up being fake. Just read the reviews about people getting counterfeit apple products, not just apple air tags, but airpods, their charging cables and anything else that can easily be faked.

I just got a 4pack for $19 (amazn refurbished) thanks for this. I don't need "precise tracking" for things like motorcycles and cars.

Ive been buying those no name air tags and they work fine. They are cheap and disposable. No precise find makes it even better for tagging your valuables

This was a few years ago, but my wife ordered an Apple branded watchband and it was fake. Just like memory sticks, no Apple products from Amazon for us.

I've been using Atuvos tags for a while with my iPhone and not had any issues - they seem to work better than some of the other knockoffs - other tags show up in Find My with a question mark attached to their icon. Not sure how much of a difference that makes, but the Atuvos tags don't show up with a question mark.

rumor mill seems to point to announcement later this month (hopefully). if they come through with the alleged 3x range and a louder speaker i don't care if these are cheaper. all of my use cases are either longest distance possible (100 yards is waaaaay better than 100 feet for tracking the backpack of your kid on a school bus as it'll hit a load more relays) and the precision finding for the remotes the wife and kids like to hide in the sofa is so much better on air tags than any alternative i've seen
