I think $700 is the cap on the printer ($700 spend from the terms), which would be a $350 points back. I'm eyeing the brother color laser printers. A lot of options under that price range.
you're right, kind of sneaky on their part as the luggage deal lists max rewards $250 versus spend. I just saw the $700 and my mind went to rewards like the luggage fine print.
If you have the Chase Ink card, you'll get 5% back charging these to that card.
Still a pretty solid deal if you don't mind the points. $700 puts a lot of high end home to small/mid size office printers in range. You just can't get the monster large office printers. Also, staples printer prices don't seem to be as marked up compared to competitors as their luggage.

That's exactly what I'm looking at too. I've had the same black and white Brother multifunction laser printer since 2014 or so, but now that my kid is in school, we're definitely going to be needing to print in color more often for school projects.
And I wonder if Staples is going out of biz.
