This is a good price. Great blender! FWIW: We have a Vitamix with a similar (or the same) 64oz container.
GOOD: It fits on the counter, under a cabinet
BAD: for mixing small amounts or thick stuff, it requires a lot of scraping or hand-mixing. Ingredients tend to spatter up the sides instead of mixing. The taller 64 oz container is better in that regard, but probably won't fit under a kitchen cabinet atop the blender.

Thanks, we usually make large quantities of everything because we have a lot of people in our family, so I think we can get by with the shorter jar, but I have been reading about how the tall jar in the 5200 model is the best (aside from cabinet space).

Definitely a perk to have peace of mind buying from Costco.

I ended up getting a "deal" on a flash sale Vitamix on Amazon that turned out to be stolen and didn't qualify for warranty support.

A vitamix blender is well worth it, buy once cry once. If you actually use it daily it will change your life.

I have one I use daily. My smoothies are 30 seconds quicker to make. I actually prefer my ninja for solo smoothies.

I wouldn't say it changes lives. Especially if you already own any blender

That is crazy. And why I prefer Costco to Amazon (though I shop too much at both). Did Amazon take it back?

Whats the difference between this and Venturist.. if anyone knows. I bought the Venturist for $300 just now and this one is $320 currently. Just wondering which one is better or both are same.

Ordered one of these in black. Opened today to verify compatibility with some additional accessories and discovered they shipped me the white model. Box was sealed and photo on the box shows the black model. Placed a new order and will return the white one to the local Costco.

Assuming you are referring to the Venturist Pro...

Both are Costco only models.

The Venturist Pro has the self-detect feature that requires the DETECT containers unless you want to get into RFID hacking.

The Alta Pro is a new model and appears to replacing the Venturist Pro in Costco's line up. The Alta Pro does not require DETECT containers.

Both come with the shorter / wider 64 Oz container with 4" blade. Reviews like that this container will fit under a counter while on the blender. They say it does a good job for medium to large portions not for small portions. People prefer the tall / thin container w/ 3" blades for smaller portions. You were able to solve this problem by buying the mixing bowl and/or personal cup w/ 2.5" blade, but both have been recalled for safely issues. The (8oz?) bowls over a year ago and the personal cup set as of ~now. I bought the personal cup set on the ~10/15th and got a recall notice yesterday.

Note - The original blending bowl base w/ blade will not fit on the non-Ascent style blenders like the Alta Pro.... I confirmed this today. However, the bowl does fit the Personal Cup's base w/ shroud. While Vitamix says they are incompatible but many people say they use this combo. See link below on container compatibility for more info.

The Venturist Pro compatible (DETECT) containers uses the new Ascent style lids that some people complain about. The Alta uses the classic style rubber lids vs the newer hard plastic lid.

During the recent sales, I researched the 5200 and Venturist Pro but was undecided. I didn't care for the counter top storage limitation on the tall (5200) container, missing updates from the newer models like the larger motor, timer, etc. But I also didn't like having to deal with RFID hacking to defeat the DETECT nonsense in the Venturist Pro. I waited long enough to come across the Alta Pro which I chose over the other two.
