No brainer at this price! Got an extra 10% student discount and came out to $1624.66 with tax. While the CPU may / may not be an issue to upgrade. (Haven't tried it myself). The other components are easily upgradable. Have had past Alienware machines and have all have been great except when intel had the instability issues with the 13th and 14th gen chips, and I was unfortunately affected and it pretty much killed my PC. Dell resolved that for me.
For $1624.66 you literally you can't find anything better at this price. I would get this before it sells out!
Tip : You will get a minimum $45.76 in rewards, once your order is shipped and delivered. Use those rewards and apply it towards a NVME SSD or whatever you'd like! Have done this multiple times. Dell Rewards Program is great!

It's not a laptop, you can upgrade this all that you want. Just be aware to keep the old components in case you need warranty service.

Oh wow, I haven't looked closely at Alienware in over a decade. You're correct, a lot of CPUs come soldered on Alienware. Other components like RAM and drives are still upgradeable. Such an awful choice to solder on the CPUs, so if the motherboard fails, you're out two major components instead of one. What a shame. Otherwise this is a solid deal.

yeah I believe that's why it's so cheap because people aren't buying them.

Processor is fine but the RAM is pretty slow for DDR5. It would be worth it to upgrade the RAM to a larger and faster kit

If you have an employee discount, it's an extra 5% off. Amex gives $100 off $500 but could be ymmv. Also a certain CB website gives 10% off.

Is the MB a proprietary form factor or a standard one like ATX, mATX, etc?

Just bought this except I upgraded to 32GB, 2TB and i9 285K process. Came out to be $2069 before tax after 10% employee discount. Didn't want to deal with the upgrade by myself plus CB offering 10% back so figure cuts cost of upgrade.

I also had two business platinum cards with $150 credit each, 5% Amex Offer and 1 extra Amex points. Plus the 10% from cash back sites.

After everything, will be ~1658 plus 20K MR points.

Not slickdeals and have feeling BF will offer better deals, but best I can get now for 5080 system!

And you're most likely also out of a case, PSU, and cooler. It's so heavily proprietary that I'm not sure if you can get replacement parts and even if you can, not sure if you'd want to. The new Area 51 is marginally better but I would still call aspects of it proprietary as the PSU is using a standard but a standard I think that has no consumer motherboards for. The fan hub relies on that specific motherboard and the gpu support bracket relies on that specific GPU.
