Honestly I have both and really appreciate them each. The hardback set is my "gently handled" collection, my paperback is to share to others or use heavily. If you love Calvin & Hobbes it's worth it for sure

I bought this in 2019 for $60. This seems reasonable, the listed price does not lol

Edit: mine was the paperback collection, making this an even better deal. Still believe the "msrp" is useless information.

I've got two sets of the complete paperback set (in addition to all the individual release books). When these came out, reports were that the hard covers used cheap binding (not the real stuff you want for a family heirloom). Wonder if they ever changed production. The individual hardcovers I have that were library style releases have legit binding.
The paperback set has typical glue binding but I'm pretty sure I paid less than $90 for both sets let aline one like this deal

Bought this set around the time it came out and I crack at least one volume every year as it gets closer to Christmas, and it's true, you do find yourself agreeing with Mom and Dad more as time goes on. If you're a fan and haven't had the joy of reading through these, there's enough additional watercolors, reformatted full pages, and chapter notes that go beyond just the strips to make it utterly worth your while. Plus the format of a giant book is perfect for a full page Sunday strip and then facing pages for the rest of the week. Proudly occupies the shelf next to a similar Far Side collection.
