Solid for the money. Would be a great first gaming computer, the 4050 is more than capable enough for 1080p gaming.

Can anyone name a current better deal with equivalent or better CPU, RAM, graphics card, and build quality, is at least 15.6", and has USB-C charging, and (critically) is no more than $600? Seems like a pretty muted reaction, but I can't currently find one.

If you can wait, there deals that can be had... I barely missed these 2. Was going to buy them, but missed them by one day... I snoozed I lose. Still waiting on something exactly like you are looking for too. But with these specs, like this Laptop above, it comes around every month. For me, I need a slightly better specs for $600. Or same specs for a little less than $600 would be slick... Like the links I have below.

Asus TUF has 140w 4050
but the 5050 is a real winner if you do get a LOQ without mobo issues.
