The 40L is a carry on.
Weirdly, you can get the 55L as a carry-on too. However, the 55L is really just the 40L + 15L daypack.
I'm going to guess that this is a 55L with a 15L daypack.
Also, if you are looking at these, the whole laptop thing gets weird. The bundled packs put the laptop sleeve in the daypack. The solo ones put a laptop sleeve in the big bag. I use it for work, so I bought the 40L alone and then added the daypack, so that I can have my laptop closer to my body and more convenient. My wife mostly travels for leisure and so she bought the bundle.

Note that you can overfill the 40L so the it doesn't fit in a all regional jet overhead, like an Embraer 135/40/45, but as long as it's not so full it's domed on the back it will slide right in. The 55 (70L w/o the 15L) is too long for small overheads and too deep to fit perpendicular in modern (A319/20/21 and 757/87) overheads…and, more importantly, won't fit in the sizer if fully packed, whereas the 40/55 will fit.

Yup - the 40L is perfect carry-on size and the 15L fits all but the tightest personal item requirements. I'm not a fan of the 15L because it has almost zero organization, so as a personal item it's not actually well suited unless you're going keep your documents in their own "folder" and your traveling accoutrements in a separate organizer. It's got more body and better straps than a stuff-pack, though, and it clips into the main pack front OR back so combined carry to/from airports and train stations is a convenient and easy.

Also, backpacks almost never get flagged or make airlines mad. Its kinda weird. I once saw a plane getting very critical of people's bags and I asked 3 different gate agents what i needed to do because my bag was stuffed full. They all said "oh, dont worry, its a backpack", even though it was clearly larger than people getting flagged. One person even said "you could always put it under the seat in front of you" and I explained that I absolutely could not and that would be impossible. She still said "don't worry about it".
The Farpoint replaced the Porter line of travel bags.
