for new drone pilots here are some notes.
I highly recommend taking the TRUST certificate it is aobut 30 minutes to know basic rules and safety.

notes I made when new:

To fly under The Exception for Recreational Flyers, you must:

Have a current registration

Fly only for recreational purposes

Follow the safety guidelines of a community based organization

Keep your drone within your visual line of sight

Give way and do not interfere with any manned aircraft

Fly at or below 400' in controlled airspace and only with prior authorization

Fly at or below 400' in uncontrolled airspace

Comply with all airspace restrictions

Pass The Recreational UAS Safety Test (TRUST)

DJI MINI 3 / MINI 4 PRO REMOTE ID
For aircraft with a 20-digit alphanumeric serial number (always prefixed with 1581F), The Remote ID serial number is the same as the drone serial number, and generally the same as the flight controller serial number, for example Mavic 3 series, Mini 3 series, Avata, Matrice 30 series, Mavic 3 Enterprise series, etc.

B4UFLY Smartphone App. (it show if the place you are at are clear to fly)

This price for this drone is a home run. if you're flying in a congested area and worried about obstacle avoidance get some propeller guards. The camera is good enough that for the most part you can fly in the clear and get "good" video. I also like this drone because it is directly rechargeable via USB C so just about any phone charger gets the job done. It's small enough you can take it anywhere, and in the long run cheap enough that I'm not afraid to fly it all the time. I'm a trained drone pilot and occasionally use a very expensive drone at work, but this little fella is plenty for me for personal use and is a blast.

I was excited to get this package for 270. At 240 it really is a no-brainer as long as you have the funds and will actually use it.

i'm tempted here. i've never owned a drone, but would like one for my photography. i'm just concerned about the upcoming possible ban and the lack of object avoidance.

you should be fine with this.
I started on a mini 3 (not the pro) and was into photography with dslr. this is a natural side step/evolution with photographer.

be aware you are stepping into a rabbit hole.

I started with the Mini 3 and now I have
- Mini 4 pro
- Avata 2
- Air 3
- 2x Neo with FPV controller flying FPV

with that said this is a very good price for a capable unit. Not having obstacle avoidance makes you a better more alert pilot from the begining

Adding propeller guards will put it over the weight limit for not needing FCC registration.

This or the Neo for ~$160 that popped up yesterday? Shooting some YouTube videos and just need some quick b-roll, first time buying a drone.

I use an app on Android named 'AutoPylot', it will put in the LAANC request for you and so far my flights have all been approved instantly'ish. There are several apps out there for the different platforms that will handle this for you.
