Tried these once..never again. The smell it produced was awful and it.took multiple cycle to go away. Didn't notice any difference to even bother with this again..
Yeah I strongly suggest trying one before committing to four. Very strong chemical smell that lasts weeks. Will permeate your soft dishware like silicone coated items. At first I actually kind of liked it but it grew old quick and I didn't like smelling it on my silicone stuff.

Tried this first time last month. Machine went through the whole cycle, opened up the door and this thing was sitting sideways 3/4 full still...

This is basically just liquid citric acid [rbnainfo.com] and a bunch of other crap that's not particularly needed (the other active ingredient is a defoamer).

Just buy powdered CA (~$10 on Amazon [amazon.com]for 2 lb), put about 1/4 cup or so in an empty DW and run it. Also works for washing machine. That $10 CA purchase will probably be suitable to clean a DW a dozen times or more.

I set up an alert for these in settings and always stock up each year. Only end up paying 1.50 each. Love the smell. It's important to clean out the filter and rinse out regularly or the smell just won't go away. Thanks OP!

Does it really work? Where do you put in dishwasher on bottom or in storage where pods go?

With the machine empty (though I don't believe that really matters) I just put ~ 1/4C (really I don't measure) in the bottom, close the door and put it on a regular cycle. Sometimes I toss in a regular pod, too. My DW has a "cleaning" cycle but I think all that might do is make the water hotter or rinse around for longer.

Most of these "cleaners" are just packaged citric acid. You're paying for a bit of convenience.

My dishwasher literally just says to put a 1/2 cup of vinegar in a bowl on the top rack and run the cleaning cycle. Works.

Also an acid. I guess it might be personal preference if there is a residual vinegar smell after the clean cycle. The pH of citric acid (as it is when the unit fills with water) is likely lower than the vinegar (which has a ph of ~ 2.5 in the bottle, it's further diluted in the machine).

The active ingredient in these types of product is always pennies in cost per use if you buy it in bulk.

citric acid will do everything this says.
