I had a different set from Govee, but they made it about 2 months outdoors in the spring before they were fried. Got a refund, which was pretty painless, after sending them a video of the issue (I plug it in, it doesn't work 😂).

still waiting on govee to be transparent about the differences between their string lights 1 and their string lights 2. obviously there is a slightly different hanger vs clip, but otherwise who knows.
i had 2 sets of their original string lights and one set lasted 2 months before they started going screwy. the other set was under the eave, essentially entirely protected from the elements and that lasted a full season before it stopped working. its only slightly about the cost.... the amount of effort it takes to put up string lights correctly and cleanly and professionally is way too time-consuming to try again till i know im not wasting my time with more garbage..
for those that dont know, the way these sets change colors/brightness/patterns on the bulbs requires it to know the exact length of the strings... if you add an extension, or another set of strings, it goes haywire... so even one single light gets water or dampness in it and stops working, the entire set of lights gets out of whack and will do weird stuff. setting it to be green instead sets half of them to yellow, and the other half flashing purple, etc. or in some cases, one string will just be a very dim color. all that to say... if they havent improved the durability/waterproofness of these things, all it takes is one light to get damp and the whole thing is toast.

I have these on my fence, 144 ft fits my fence perfectly. They look classy, endless colors you can choose from and I installed them as soon as the weather broke here in Chicagoland for the spring. They are on from dark until midnight every day and they have are still kicking. I did purchase a waterproof box to put the control pack in to keep it out of the elements, that could be critical.
I grabbed a set last year. Like them a lot. Only a little wonkiness like a random bulb occasionally flickering a different color. Under cover of the deck above my condo, so mostly hidden from water.
I've wanted another set because as another poster said, the bulbs are kind of far apart. I originally ran them in an outline around my deck. Now I think they may look nicer if I zig-zag them back-and-forth across the deck. That should increase the density of lights and better show the animations you can do with these lights.
My only criticism, other than that occasionally wonkiness, is if I could make my own animations instead of using one of the 30+ patterns they show. The animations can't be separated from the colors and sometimes I'd prefer that customization. Heck, maybe it can, the app is just a bit over-engineerer so hard to figure out. Still, I figured how to customize colors, save them as a snapshot, and have them turn on at night, and move from animation to static color after a few hours to annoy the neighbors less, then turn off at sunrise. So if I can figure that but not how to change the animation, it's likely not there.
In July 2024, I got a slickdeal here for 2x 48ft (96ft ttl) for $63.93. Thats $30ish per strand. The "sale" price now is twice as much, now showing as $60ish for a 48ft strand. Model number is different. Sounds from the reviews here, they aren't better. Pass.
