$80 annual subscription after first year. No thanks.
For those looking for a cheaper route, buy a large Amazon Fire tablet and a stand, make a shared Google calendar and let that be displayed.

It's too bad the echo show doesn't have a better calendar. It's the only reason these other ones exist. Major miss on amazons side

There is a free tier which sounds like it does all the calendar things. The subscription seems to be for 3 features: Photo screensaver, meal planning, and OCR import of calendar events.Having said that, this seems very expensive for such a niche device, but it's more like a "not tech-savy" tax than anything else. There are a half dozen ways to do this better but they require you to have some technical aptitude.

Yes just go to customer service, they can bring up your history through your membership and say you want the money back on the difference on the sale price vs. what you paid. You dont have to return and rebuy or anything

Please explain... The way I see it, the Samsung frame is much larger (not ideal for a calendar), not touchscreen, and does not have any calendar features built in, so would require a mini pc or similar to display a calendar. If we're talking about a wall mounted TV, sure, but this deal is not for that.

I noticed that. It just feels like the photo display feature is such a money grab. But good to point out for those interested in this product.
Another option without a subscription is Cozyla.

Call me old school. I never buy anything with a subscription if not absolutely needed. Seems like everyone is trying to get you into a subscription.

Yeah do people not have phones lol?

I mean i get wanting to see it on a dedicated device but man $220 and a $80 yearly sub. Just buy a cheap laptop and keep it on all the time.

This is like pure consumerism.

rasberry pi + dakboard on a cheap monitor. Granted, you won't have the touchscreen aspect of the Skylight, but our home does all Google calendar updates on our phones and they show up on the monitor.
