I keep seeing these amazing deals on rice cookers, then I don't buy them. Because they always turn out to have non-stick coating.

And it inevitably flakes off. That can't be good, for a variety of ways.

So, I keep holding out for an incredibly cheap one that is also bare metal. And not coming across one.

However, a reviewer for this model "warns" people that this model ISN'T non-stick. So it's exactly what I'm looking for. But googling the model number provided "(ARC-743-1NGOR)" seems to indicate that it IS non-stick.

Oh well. I'm in love with the color, and the warming tray, to cook appetizers. I'm still buying it. Maybe I'll get lucky, and it will be a bare-metal variation, or maybe I can find a bare-metal pot to fit it.

Just saw your post and in the same boat. Would be awesome if there is an OEM bare metal pot for this. Wife is telling me to get rid of our Tiger made-in-japan one w/ non-stick pot and plastic steam tray.

It's a non-stick. I've had it in a diff color for about a year. It hasn't flaked or scratched. This set is cheaper than buying a replacement pot. Unless you're going to shell out for a fancy fuzzy logic, this is a great deal... just replace it when it becomes problematic.

Honestly though, I prefer to make rice on the stove unless I'm in a bind for time. But I do love the steamer functionality of this one. I use it for pot stickers. I suppose you can use it for steaming rice as well, but I never tried.

$9 for a rice cooker? Never had one, but I do make a lot of rice. I'll give it a shot for that price.

It's nonstick...for $8.50, I consider it practically disposable. Use it until it starts flaking, and get a new one :-)

I recently upgraded from a basic Oster rice cooker to a 3qt Instant Pot which has a bare stainless inner pot. I had been looking at high end rice cookers but they all have that garbage non-stick coating.

Bare metal is only for the steamer insert, the large rice pot has a non-stick coating - you can see it in the photo. I have this exact one from a previous Woot deal. (Maybe that's why it's been on sale at Woot several times recently).
