was skeptical about all the fuss about TNF backpacks until I got one few months ago and wouldn't go back to any other brand. the quality and design are above all competition and very convenient for the kiddos. If you have a outlet near by, check there before buying any where else. last month the outlet had 50% off deal and got two, borealis luxe and recon for less than 49$ each.
if no outlet nearby, this is a great deal.

Are TNF quality still good as it used to be? I still have mine from 15 years ago.

I use this backpack daily, and I've taken it on hikes up to 10-12 miles. It has held up well. I purchased it (lightly) used from Goodwill for $8, maybe $12.

Could you say if it provides good back support? I'm looking for a solution for my middle school son who says his back hurts daily. This is because he has to carry everything with him throughout the day since the admins do not allow the kids to use the lockers anymore. 🙄

I just picked up this pack via an REI outlet deal + coupon for $60. It's my first North Face pack so all I can do is relay all the info I've read online. I researched this pack A LOT before buying (and after).

Most people who have owned TNF packs over the years feel quality has gone downhill considerably. I love the looks of this pack and it feels great on the back (though the straps don't), however I am strongly considering returning it after seeing how they attach the straps to the pack body. To me it just looked poorly designed and prone to failure. Sure enough, a lot of people have had problems with the straps coming unstitched and for many, TNF would not honor a warranty claim and chalked it up to 'normal wear and tear'. Somehow I missed the strap issue in my research, likely because the product reviewers on Youtube/gear websites only spend a brief time using the pack.

It's a shame because the bag checks all the boxes for me, otherwise. It's got great organization layout for me. I'm considering the Osprey Quasar or Parsec instead, if I do return this one.

The material quality seemed good enough to me, but the stitching looks a tad sloppy to my eyes. Overall, the pack doesn't have that premium feel to me.

I'm not a fan of this bag. When you carry a lot of stuff, the upper part is bigger than the lower part, and the entire bag just "bends." Also I can never put this bag on the floor because it lies down either way.
