I have both the Sennheiser and the Hifiman. I bought the Sennheiser first, and when I heard the Hifiman I liked them, but was not impressed. As far as I'm concerned, they are just different, without one being significantly better.

Great cans but at 300 ohms you really need a dedicated headphone amp to reach full potential. I prefer the ATH-M50x for use on PC, tablet, phone, etc.

introduction to the audiophile world, the hd6xx is amazing for its price point. This headphone is highly recommended. It punches up its weight division. If you check review websites or videos the hd6xx is always talked about

The deal is okay, the headphones are amazing! Definitely use the $10 coupon. I bought this 2 years ago for $200 and it's been my favorite headphones ever since.

Note these are open back, but often that's not as limiting as you might imagine if for example you're using them at home, but also the sound leakage isn't too terrible unless you have them pretty loud. And in fact, they breathe better and so tend to be a little more comfortable. Some people might get some mileage out of stretching the metal headband a bit though because they tend to be a little tight out of the box if I remember correctly.

I have these and they're awesome. Definitely worth grabbing a pair if you're looking for a really nice set of open back over ear cans.

These are classics (basically a Sennheiser HD650). But if you want more "wow factor," I would say go for Hifiman Edition XS, which is also on Slickdeal sale right now. Or get both to hear the difference between Dynamic driver vs Planar magnet!

How do you get the $10 coupon to work? I have a message at the top of the screen saying "Your automatically applied $10 WELCOME COUPON is active! Click here for eligible products, valid through October 15, 2025." but it is not taking anything off when I go to check out. I added the HD6XX from the link for eligible products too.

These are great, but for $20-40 more, you could get a pair of Hifiman planar headphones like the Ananda or Edition XS, which are in a completely different league. If you search Slickdeals, you can find Anandas for as low as $188.

I already own HD550 and Sundara, will these offer anything significantly different sound signature or improvement to justify the purchase?

I'm actually coming from retiring Sandara, Edition XS, Ananda stealth, purchasing these and hoping to like them. I like the Hifimans I've owned, but looking for something that brings more "emotions". From reviews, it sounded like the HD6xx series might do. We'll see how it goes!

I own both and to say the Edition XS are in a "different league" is a big exaggeration. From a pure sound quality standpoint it will depend on what you listen too. The XS is more punchy in the bass and a little bright (to be kind). Vocals shine on the 6xx but still has very good lows and highs.

Build quality is my biggest issue with Hifiman in general, the Edition XS is no exception. The headband is pretty awful and uncomfortable after an hour or so (hot). Lots of complaints of squeaks, sounds while just wearing them.

At these price points, and if I could only have one, it's the 6xx. However, if you have the budget I'd suggest the 660S2 (also on sale) from Sennheiser or looking at the Ananda Nano or even moving up to a Arya Stealth from hifiman. Both also can be had "on sale" with either refurb or open box deals.
