they phasing this out because the S4 Max Solar is releasing next week.

It's the camera thats in the new POE set but is solar.

The eufy solar panel has a chance to delaminate and in some cases just stops getting a charge even if they send you a replacement. But with Costco that will buy you an option out IF if fails and eufy wont help you anymore.

Don't get me wrong a lot of people dont have issues, BUT search and youll see there is enough cases for you to be aware.

Is this 100% solar powered? Or is this one of those stupid ones that have to be charged every 2 months

I bought 2 of these back in Dec 2024 when they were $80. I haven't had to charge them once. If you put your solar panel in 8-10 hours of sun and have modest notifications/detections, you shouldn't have to ever charge it.

I own a different model of Eufy cam. What I don't like the most is that their app is very buggy and lags most of the time. If it detects any motion, most of the time the app crashes and some other times it gets stuck loading the notification. Currently trying to move away from all the eufy cams

wonder what's the difference between this S3 and the S340 that's being sold at Amazon/Eufy directly. Costco model seems $10 less with better warranty.

A quick Google search says they are the same with a different model number just for costco but not totally sure if they are the same.

According to a cached page on Google shopping, it will be $299 for the solar S4. Obviously Eufy loves a good discount, so I'm guessing closer to $199 at retail.

They are the same. I don't know why they have two names for it. Maybe international vs retailer specific?

nope. Only works with HB3 or by itself.

Sooo.. expect a bigger discount for Black Friday then?

My S3 holds a charge better than the 4k fixed solar ones but the motor on this is slow. It'll lose track of an object going under it. If it's on the perimeter it's fine. The wired wyze pan cam 3 is way faster and can track objects running stright under it.

They do make wired motion outdoor lights w/ integrated GFCI outlets (Prime day deals). I wish they had USB ports too though. Very convenient for powering wyze cams and christmas lights (on a smart switch) or for plugging in power tools.
