Don't see any UL certification, and read the 1 star reviews; it caused an electrical fire for 1 person. I wouldn't go cheap and with AmazonBasics for something like this.

yeah, 600 Joules is low but good luck finding any surge protector with a flat plug for $2.50/each; I bought black and white 2-pack

The review you read is not for this version, it is for the old model 200 joule variant. this is an amazing price for a great product. I bought 2 packs. would buy more if I didn't already have a few.

Only 600 joules means this is essentially just a power strip and not much of a surge protector. However $2.50 for a 6 outlet power strip is still a good price. But don't count on it saving your expensive electronics from a power surge, like your 77" OLED TV or RTX 5090 PC.

a 2' power strip is the one that gets lost because everyone tosses them aside while looking for the convenient ones with nice long cords

I wouldn't worry about the joules, focus on the clamping voltage. Either way, from someone who's experienced a lighting strike to a tree about 15 ft from the house and had about 60 surge protectors, the surge will travel through the easiest path and that could be HDMI cables, optical cable, ethernet cable, telephone cables, etc, etc.

Dam... In for 2. I think just to be safe I'm gonna replace some of my shorter strips tied to electronics that don't have surge.
