I think AMD Ryzen 7 9700X for most is better - its 230 at MC right now.

didn't this 7900x have heating issues or was that just on its launch?

also these listing are misleading. the 64mb cache is the total. but performance is only one ccd as far as I know. one ccd is only 32mb cache so it will not perform at 64mb cache. that is just both ccd combined. they don't list this in the specs on selling... unless you go to the actual full spec sheet on AMD u will never know.

correct me if I'm wrong.

I debated about this as well but decided on the Ryzen 9 7900x but you be the judge.

I have a 7900x with a 5090- I plan on upgraded to the next x3D chip, or when the 9800x3D hits >$400. Pretty close to that now.

7900X should be more than enough. curious, what can the latest X3D chips do that the 7900X can't? I got the 7950X3D & don't plan on upgrading for at least 5-6 years.

For gaming, the Ryzen 7 7800X3D is the clear winner over the Ryzen 9 7900X, despite the 7900X having more cores and higher clocks. Just ask the AI for more details.

only for very high refresh rate 1080P gaming in CPU bound titles, per AI. The 7900X is more versatile and better for multitasking.

Just noticed AMD Bundles (except the most expensive thread rippers) no longer include RAM. It's now a $120 option to add to a bundle. Lame.

Well, for 4k gaming the x3D chips are going to have more consistent low framerates- I just bought the 5090 and LG 45" Ultrawide (5120 x 2160/165Hz) so I'd do better with a x3D cpu over my current 7900x.

If you can believe it It took me this long just to find a 5090 for MSRP ($2k). I built my setup over a year ago.

It depends on the build you're doing, it might actually be cheaper when not bundling the RAM now.

For Example: upgrading to 64GB of RAM, instead of having to pay $85 for base 32GB set of RAM + $200 for an upgrade cost = $285, you can buy just a set of 64GB RAM for ~$200-220. The Motherboard and CPU Bundles are also a little cheaper, like the 9900x + MSI Pro X870E-P is about $15 cheaper than with the prior RAM bundle. Though they did hike up the 32GB G.Skill CL36 set they used to bundle, but funny enough 2 other sets with lower CL are cheaper now. Pricing be weird.
