i do appreciate that they put in bold letter that it's plastic instead of trying to hide the fact.

my wife just bought a 24 pk for $15.99 at my local costco. I already think that's outrageous for carbonated water, this is even more expensive than that...

I'm still outraged about the time I bought a case of Maison Perrier thinking it was the same water as Perrier. Stopped buying Perrier anything ever since.

i recently discovered Gerolsteiner. night and day compared to this. yes, its in a 1L glass bottle. it's been on sale every other week for $2 at my store. All the San Pellegrino plastic bottles from Amazon has turned flat within a month.

67c per (16.9oz) bottle doesn't strike me as "outrageous". At least no more outrageous than anything else in the grocery store. At least she got it on sale, it's usually $20/case. And unless I have my maths wrong I think you'll find that these larger bottles are in fact less expensive, not more expensive, on a per ounce basis.

I can't vouch for Amazon's stock because I only buy Pellegrino from Costco, but this "goes flat in a month" thing is completely alien to me. I have months-old stock in my garage that is perfectly fine. Could be specific to this size bottle?

We drink a lot of pellegrino, mostly from Costco, most of which are the wine bottle sized glass. On a few occasions we got cases of individual size plastic bottles from costco, and one time for a case of 1L plastic bottles off Amazon. I actually find a lot of variation in the water between those 3 different packages:
  • the standard glass bottles has a nice taste and is moderately carbonated
  • the small plastic bottles have higher carbonation, but somehow don't taste as good as the standard
  • the 1L bottles have a similar initial carbonation to standard glass and also tasted worse than standard
We've done blind tastings between the standard glass Pellegrino, individual sized plastic, and with Perrier too because we had all three at one point. We actually could taste a difference between each one, even though two of the waters should be the same product in different packaging. In any case, we found plastic bottled Pellegrino to be worse than glass in a noticeable manner, so carbonation issues aside, we've opted to go with glass only.
