My local store's $20 carbon steel, no-coating woks always work better than all those expensive ones.

the person did the demo in-store with metal spatula and all and claimed this thing is scratch resistant. we took it home and scratch marks are visible after a few uses. we returned it.

if they didn't claim it's scratch resistant and if it's only $40 i would probably keep it, but not for $150.

I've used metal, wood, and silicone utensils for years on my Hexclad pans and none of them have scratches. Are you using a Ryobi power drill on that thing to get scratches after a few uses or am I just a weakling in the kitchen? 😲

( Edit- first ever thumbs down for me on here. That's what I get for expressing my experience, I guess. Cool! )

Yeah their scratch free demos are very specific. Their logic is the raised stainless steel sections "prevent" you from scratching the non stick coating, but you're still scratching the stainless steel.
The second you apply any sort of angle or use the corner of a metal utensils that logic goes out the window, and you end up scratching both.
Not to mention as a Wok this is a bad design anyway.

Went to the return auction recently. It was mostly Costco products that week. This product was def #1 in terms of most returns. Saw hundreds of these sets being auctioned off as returned products. 2nd most returned item to Costco is Serta office chairs 3rd offender was the waterpik combos and then damaged appliances. Scored a 7 piece set for $140 and for that price has been good. Was very interesting to see a real life example of all the stuff people returned and who the clear offenders were (Hexclad)

We have a liquidation place that gets costco returns (among other places like Sam's club and amazon) and it is always interesting seeing what people return in large quantities. My favorite are the pizza ovens that have clearly been used once by someone who didn't do their research and returned it.
I got an ooni koda 16 for 150 bucks last week.

This is my 2.5 year old-ish Hexclad pan (taken just 5 minutes ago). Used every week at least, usually 2-3 times for eggs, sausages, or small steaks. My other pans look the same, though I don't have the wok this deal is specifically for. I don't know what other issues people are having but I'm not having any issues myself. (boo, thumbs down, I know!). I see people online being both for and against the Hexclad pans - I'm happy with sets I have and that's all I can say.

Maybe like so many other products out there, plenty of cheap chinese fakes are being made and sold as the real deal? So some got the real ones and love them, and others got the cheap fakes but not exactly the cheap fake price...?

I think the reason for the difference is how people cook and clean. I am a terrible cook (not implying others who got scratches are terrible cooks, but just cooks differently) so I know I definitely did not take the necessary steps to keep it scratch free. My brother in law is a very good cook and he manages keep his hexclad pots scratch free.
