For most people this is the better deal. More RAM and $100 cheaper. Most don't need the performance gain from the extra cores and would benefit from the cooler M4 with more RAM. But buyers know what they need. If you don't know then get this IMO

Camera on the M4 is a big improvement.
AI on the M4 is a big improvement (>2x).
single-core speed is better on M4.
Battery life is 30% plus for video, etc.

About seven months ago, I found an M3 Pro with the same memory and hard drive on Amazon resell for just a little over $1,200. I was very happy with my purchase, but if I were still looking to upgrade from my M1, I would jump on this deal!

these pop up at Best Buy sporadically. I was looking for a MacBook Air yesterday but saw this online. purchased a fair quality one for $1080, only had two battery cycles and looked virtually new. there was one small scratch on the underside of the laptop.

same exact thing happened to me (good condition) i drove an hour to pick it up but i asked to checked the battery cycles before i bought it
